SOMALIA

Delivering aid in the face of drought and conflict.

Years of conflict, famine, and natural disasters have severely weakened Somalia’s health system, leaving millions vulnerable to malnutrition and disease outbreaks. Despite these challenges, the country has made progress, including eradicating wild poliovirus and interrupting transmission of measles and cholera. WHO is working closely with Somali health authorities to deliver emergency and essential health services, support mass immunization campaigns, and strengthen health system resilience. The focus is on bridging humanitarian and development efforts to build long-term capacity, improve access to care, and prepare for future health emergencies.
